Windstar Golf 

Our meticulously maintained eighteen-hole championship golf course, designed by Tom Fazio, delivers eight sets of tees strategically placed, which caters to golfers of varying skill levels.

The Windstar golf program fosters diverse opportunities for competition in various settings. Weekly golfing events cater to men, ladies, nine-hole players, and couples, offering both competitive and social environments. Our annual major championships, accessible to all Golf Members, further enhance the golfing experience at Windstar on Naples Bay.

Today our Director of Golf Operations, Dan Heaslip, holds the Club's course record shooting a 64 in the 2003 Club Pro-Am Tournament. Dan is one of the area's best-scoring Club professionals, winning many South Florida events. Dan's team of professionals includes Head Golf Professional, Kevin Kohlasch. These teaching pros take great pride in assisting Members in lowering their handicaps, but also getting their maximum pleasure from playing this great game. The team conducts individual and group teaching sessions at our bay side practice facility. On-course teaching is also available. They run and manage a first-class golf operation to the pleasure of our 350 Members!

Windstar on Naples Bay was Tom Fazio's first design for a private golf course in Naples, FL and Southwest Florida. Fazio emphasizes the premise that "golf courses should reflect the natural beauty of their environments."Maintaining that principle, Fazio Golf Course Designers strives to follow design priorities that include creating harmonious transitions from existing topographical conditions. Tom's commitment to environmental design inspired our staff and Membership to pursue Audubon accreditation. In 1998, Windstar on Naples Bay was designated a "Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary", an honor only a select group of Clubs in the United States have received. To attain certification, a course must demonstrate and maintain a high degree of environmental quality in areas, such as Environmental Planning, Wildlife & Habitat Management, Outreach and Education, Water Conservation, and Water Quality Management.

Fazio attributes his success to maintaining a team concept in design shared by the ten senior associates on his staff. In designing Windstar on Naples Bay, Tom carved out a course that travels around the borders of our Mangrove Preserves and lakes. Like all Fazio course designs, there is a game for all skill levels. Each hole has its own personality to ensure each round provides for a different challenge from game to game.

In 2003, the Fazio Team was commissioned to undertake a major course reconstruction. Significant updates were made including a computerized irrigation system, greens reconstruction under USGA spec standards using champion turf grass, and laser leveled tee boxes to mention a few.
