President's Update - October 3, 2017

10/3/2017

Dear Fellow Members,

We are now 3 weeks past Irma’s arrival and hopefully this will be my last update on recovery!

In the past week our staff has made considerable progress in our restoration efforts. The Board of Directors, Nancy and our managers have been in constant communication. I am pleased to announce that we will open the clubhouse, turn window, practice tee, tennis courts 5 & 6, and the front 9 holes on Wednesday, October 11th. We are unsure of the opening date of the back nine, due to work that needs to continue. Tennis courts 1-4 are scheduled to be resurfaced on October 16th. We will also continue any residual work inside the clubhouse that is not completed and we thank you for your patience as we continue those tasks. Our staff is anxious to hit the ground running, so look for emails announcing all of our exciting upcoming events!

A big thank you to all of you who have contacted Nancy, myself, and other Board members to ask how you can help our employees. Your generosity has been overwhelming! To enable Nancy and the staff to continue to focus their energies on remediation and reopening, the Board has agreed to take on this initiative. The Board will be meeting this week to discuss establishing a fund for assistance to our employees. During that time we will also establish parameters for distribution of the contributions. I will send an email out to all members with this information after we complete our discussion. Thank you for your patience! Since the hurricane Nancy has made sure she is aware of the need of every employee and those immediate needs have been addressed.

The Board has also made a decision to postpone indefinitely our annual charity event, Windstar Gives Back, previously scheduled for November.

Once again, we are thankful for the dedication of our entire Management Team and all of our staff members who continue to work long hours, as tired as they must be, to help get us back to a more normal state. It is because of their dedication that we are able to open next week.

To you, our Members, thank you to those of you in town who brought supplies for our employees! Thank you to those of you out of town, who contacted us offering to send money and gift cards! We are fortunate to have such a wonderful group of staff and members at Windstar on Naples Bay!

Here’s to our best season ever…. We remain Windstar strong!

With Warm Regards,
Joycelyn Gallois
